In his article “Islamic Anti-Semitism and its Nazi Roots”, Küntzel points in particular to a 1938 essay by Banna entitled "The industry of Death”, in which Banna writes, “To a nation that perfects the industry of death and which knows how to die nobly, God gives proud life in this world and eternal grace in the life to come.”

“The concept of belligerent jihad was welcome with enthusiasm by the ‘Troops of God’ as the Brotherhood referred to itself,” Küntzel explains, “Whenever their battalions marched down the boulevards of Cairo in semi-fascist formation, they sang: ‘We are not afraid of death, we desire it... Let us die in redemption for Muslims.’” This hardly sounds like “not legitimizing” violence. Moreover, one can have doubts about Deborah Sontag’s or her editor’s choice of the charming little participle “dotted” – as in “dotted with violence” – to discuss the Muslim Brotherhood’s history.

For more about the history of the Muslim Brotherhood and, in particular, the numerous connections of the Brotherhood with Nazi Germany, I cannot do better than heartily to recommend the work of Matthias Küntzel: for German readers, his recent book Djihad und Judenhass or, for instance, his new article “Von Zeesen bis Beirut” in the Berlin weekly Jungle World; and for all, his website, where numerous articles are available in German, English and French.
*****Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11199711818518754496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1574063409049850523.post-86218588413763858422007-11-13T00:03:00.000-08:002007-11-13T00:03:00.000-08:00Nazi ideology drew a fair lot of it's concepts fro...Nazi ideology drew a fair lot of it's concepts from the Arabist that had been so popular in Europe since Napoleon invaded Egypt.

There really is nearly zero separation between modern Islamism and old school Nazism other than a different religion as dressing.

The actual functional roots are deep between the two. Check out the Mufti of Jerusalem in the '30s and his visits to Hitler's Germany. Also the Palestine Waffen SS division raised for the Nazis by the Mufti.

That division became the Arab Legion at the end of WW2 and was the force the Mufti rallied his hard core faithful around in their bid to take Jerusalem by force from the newly created state of Israel.

The Baath party was created on the framework provided by the Nazi party and later fleshed out by close association with the Soviets with plenty "revolutionary" rhetoric and methodology.

If you do any research on the foundations of the Muslim Brotherhood (one of the primary parent organizations for resurgent Islamism), you'll find much of the "philosophies of the Germans" which were all the rage among mid eastern elites in the late '20s and 30's. Pomoism, and various incarnations of radical communism and later the open race hatred of the Nazis. All played their part in creating the mind set and motivation of those that have formed the political wings of our current enemy.

The race hatred of the Nazis was what most attracted the Arab/Muslim to Nazism. And it is why you still tend to find Nazi appologists within the Arab/Muslim world. After all, killing Jews, how could that be a crime in their mind?Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11199711818518754496noreply@blogger.com
